IASSW STATEMENT ON COVID-19 VACCINES AS A GLOBAL COMMON GOOD

Social work educators internationally are concerned about the growing social and health inequalities that have significantly increasing in 2020, the year of the pandemic of COVID -19. Therefore, the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW) Human Rights and Social Justice Committee; Research Committee and the Women Interest Group join all international voices to make COVID -19 VACCINES A GLOBAL COMMON GOOD.

Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Laureate for Peace (2006), To governments and business leaders:

We call on you to urgently ensure access to lifesaving Covid-19 vaccines, treatments and equipment for everyone in the world. Patents should be lifted, technological knowledge shared freely and openly, and no profiteering allowed during this pandemic. Governments, scientists and pharmaceutical companies must cooperate and combine resources to ensure no one is left behind. The pandemic will not be over, until it’s over everywhere.

Nobel Laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus has called for a Common Good vaccine, and it’s gaining momentum! Let us all join him to make sure everyone in the world has access to COVID-19 vaccines and treatments.
