Call for contributions: Social dialogue- social work education during COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic brought significant disruption to social work education around the world. As we pass the one-year anniversary of the start of COVID-19 pandemic, we need a global inquiry to highlight our responses to these experiences. Therefore, we are seeking articles, research project reports, short stories, and other narratives that explore how social work education has responded to the challenges of COVID-19, with a particular focus on the experiences of learning, placements and teaching. A template will be provided for the selected contributions. A short abstract of no more than 200 words will be required for this selection process to take place.

Social Dialogue reaches the social work education communities across the world, and with this publication, we would like to hear from as many voices and countries as possible. Selected submissions will go into a Special Edition of Social Dialogue, the IASSW Magazine, at the end of the year.

We recognise the vital role that academics, students, practice teachers, field instructors and carers and service users play in social work education and encourage contributions from all those involved in the delivery of social work education. Contributions can be a mixture of short (500 to 700 words) or longer texts (2000 words, including references). You are encouraged to use photos, media reports, videos, research surveys and other documentation that would be useful to the worldwide community of educators in social work.

We encourage co-authorship combinations such as teacher/student, service user/teacher, student/student on themes such as organising placements and internships, studying and working from home, supporting public health efforts to manage COVID-19, relationship with nature and social work education post COVID-19.

The editorial team for this edition:

Dr Michael Wallengren-Lynch, Malmö, Sweden

Professor Lena Dominelli, University of Sterling, Scotland, United Kingdom

Dr Tara Earls Larrison, University of Illinois, USA

Dr Beth Archer-Kuhn, University of Calgary, Canada

Dr Henglien Lisa Chen, University of Sussex, England, United Kingdom.

Please submit an abstract of no more than 200 words, with contact information, to Michael Wallengren-Lynch by the 4th of June, 2021 (michael.wallengren-lynch@mau.se). You can contact Michael if you have any questions.

A decision regarding your abstract proposal will be communicated to you by the 24th of June.

Interim submission of full contribution deadline, 30 August 2021. These will be reviewed and returned with comments for revision where necessary in September.

Final submissions due 8 October 2021

We are looking forward to hearing from you!
