Member of the Executive Committee of the Association of South African Social Work Education Institutions (ASASWEI).  Member of SACSSP (South African Council for Social Service Professions). Professional position: Senior lecturer in social work education at Nelson Mandela University.

Four year Dipl in Social Work, Masters in Social Work, DPhil in Social Work with specialization in EAPs

Teaching: Anti-discriminatory social work, Trauma work (cultural and intergenerational trauma), Decolonization of social work education, Wellness in the helping professions.

Research and Practice:  Trauma work (cultural and intergenerational, Gerontology, Social marginalization and its impact on social work practice

Current Activities (social work teaching, research, practice, others):

I teach the following under-graduate courses: Introduction to Social Work History and Context for  1st year students. At a third year, I teach students a course in Social Work Research while at  4th year (honours level) a current course called Macro Strategies for Social Development will be replaced by Anti-oppressive Practice in 2021. At a Masters level I am teaching a course in Family Therapy while I supervise a range of post graduate students in topics focusing on socially marginalized groups, gerontology and decolonization of social work curriculum.
